Midfielder Leon Britton's agent has tipped his client for England recognition, saying he believes the Swansea man can help as the national team look to improve on their showing at Euro 2012.

Britton, 29, made headlines last year for having one of the best pass completion records in Europe as Swansea completed a remarkable debut campaign in the Premier League, finishing 11th.

With England exiting the European Championship at the quarter-final stage and looking to improve on their ball retention over the coming years after being starved of possession in the tournament, agent Glenn Corcoran has tipped Britton for a call-up.

Corcoran told the Daily Star: "After the defeat by Italy on Sunday, everyone was saying England are crying out for a player like Andrea Pirlo who can sit deep, retain possession and take the pressure off the team. If you look at the stats, the player who was the best at doing that in Europe last season was Leon.

"You have to wonder if the fact Leon plays at one of the more unfashionable clubs, in Swansea, stood against him. But I'd like to think that with [Roy] Hodgson talking about a revolution with England, he will come and have a good close look at Leon."
