Swansea have denied that they have made tabled an offer for Utrecht winger Edouard Duplan after the Dutch club claimed they had rejected a bid.

Duplan, 29, enjoyed an impressive Eredivisie campaign for Utrecht in 2011-12, scoring seven goals in 27 appearances.

Swansea have been linked with a swoop for the French winger in recent weeks, and Utrecht director Wilco van Schaik has said the club have alreay turned down an approach.

"Swansea made an offer that we found too low. It is finished," Van Schaik said.

However, Swans chairman Huw Jenkins has dismissed the claims as false, saying: "We haven't submitted any bid to Utrecht, I don't know where this story has come from.

"As a club we're aware of him, but he is only one of a host of players that have been mentioned."

Duplan has one year remaining on his current contract and is a former team-mate of Michel Vorm, who made a real impression after arriving at the Liberty Stadium from Utrecht last summer.

Swansea are believed to be weighing up a bid for Villarreal midfielder Jonathan de Guzman, who worked with new boss Michael Laudrup at Real Mallorca.
