PSG have poured cold water on reports suggesting they were considering an £8 million bid for Chelsea captain John Terry.

Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is in charge at PSG, and there were media suggestions over the weekend that he was hoping for a reunion with Terry, who was one of England's stand-out performers in their run to the quarter-final stage of Euro 2012.

PSG, owned by the Qatar Investment Authority, are one of the few teams worldwide who could match the £160,000-per-week pay packet that Terry reportedly takes home from Stamford Bridge.

However, PSG's sporting director Leonardo, the former Brazil international, has distanced the Ligue 1 side from an offer for the 31-year-old.

"Terry is very close to Ancelotti," Leonardo said, according to the Daily Mirror. "But that is all."

Terry is due in court next week to face charges of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand, the QPR defender.
