Milan keen on Carroll as they look to rebuild

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll is on AC Milan's list of transfer targets as they build for the future, according to the son of the Italian club's owner.

Carroll, a polarising £35 million signing for the Anfield club in January 2011, caught the eye of Milan's powers-that-be with his performances for England at the recent European Championship - particularly a powerful header in the group stage against Sweden that helped propel the Three Lions to a crucial victory.

Pier Silvio Berlusconi, son of club owner Silvio Berlusconi, has acknowledged that he would love to bring the 23-year-old to the San Siro - believing the former Newcastle striker could eventually take over from 31-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic in attack as Milan look to inject their squad with fresher faces.

"This is a new era for Milan," the younger Berlusconi said, according to Mediaset. "We will continue to get younger while maintaining the culture. Milan still has its superstars.

"As a future target, I'd like Andy Carroll.

"I must admit that for his body build, and after seeing his header in the Euros, I would like to have Carroll at Milan."
