Toure urges Man City to capture Van Persie

Kolo Toure has spoken highly of his former Arsenal team-mate Robin van Persie and believes he would be a huge asset to Manchester City.

Toure, 31, made the switch to City from Arsenal in 2009 for £16 million, the defender having spent seven years with the North London club.

Ex-Gunners Gael Clichy, Emmanuel Adebayor and Samir Nasri all currently ply their trade at the Etihad Stadium, and Van Persie has been tipped to follow them.

The Dutchman confirmed this week he will not be signing a contract extension with Arsenal, and, with his current terms due to expire next year, it is anticipated he could be sold this summer.

"Robin is a top player. I've played with him, I know him and he's a great man," Toure is reported as saying by the Manchester Evening News.

"At City we have great players and the club does what it wants in transfers. But for me, if Robin comes it's great because I know what he can do.

"You have to build your squad every year to do better; to win the Champions League is very difficult as we have seen."
