Roma have confirmed they are considering an offer from Liverpool for striker Fabio Borini.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers said at a press conference on Monday that he was confident of wrapping up his first signing as the club's new boss this week.

Liverpool have been linked with Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero and Bologna playmaker Gaston Ramirez, but it would appear Borini - who worked with Rodgers during a loan spell at Swansea in 2011 - could be the first man through the door at Anfield.

"There is a real interest from Liverpool for Borini," Roma director Walter Sabatini said. "We are currently evaluating the situation with the manager Franco Baldini.

"We will assess all our options."

Liverpool are set to head off to North America this week for the first leg of their pre-season tour.
