Taarabt signs new QPR contract
Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt has signed a new long-term contract, keeping him at Loftus Road until 2016.
Taarabt, 23, initially joined QPR on loan in 2009 before signing a permanent deal and playing a central role in the club's promotion to the Premier League in 2010-11.
The Moroccan's debut season in the top-flight was a mixed bag, but in the final months of the campaign his performances were more consistent as the Rs secured their Premier League survival.
Taarabt will now switch to the No. 10 shirt for the coming season, with new signing Park Ji-Sung to wear No. 7.
He told the club's official site: "I am very pleased to have signed this new contract. The club is getting bigger and bigger, and with a new training ground and talk of a new stadium it is very exciting.
"I know '10' is very important at QPR. Special players like Bowles and Marsh have worn this. If this makes the fans happy too, it is even better for me."
Manager Mark Hughes added: "It's important we keep good, young players at QPR because that is going to drive what we want to do and Adel is a big part of that."
