David Beckham claimed a classy double to show Great Britain manager Stuart Pearce what he was missing as the Los Angeles Galaxy beat the Portland Timbers 5-3.

Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd put the Timbers ahead in the third minute, but Beckham levelled in the 20th minute with an exquisite curling strike from 35 yards.

The former Real Madrid man, left out of the British Olympic squad by Pearce, then put the Galaxy ahead four minutes later with a trademark free-kick, Landon Donovan made it 3-1 from the penalty spot three minutes later and Robbie Keane got in on the act just a minute after that.

And, although Kosuke Kimura and Boyd pulled goals back for the Timbers, they sandwiched Keane's second of the night - in which Beckham also had a hand - to ensure the result was never in question.
