Borussia Dortmund remain confident of retaining Robert Lewandowski despite the striker having expressed a desire to play in the Premier League.

Poland international Lewandowski, 23, was linked with a move to Manchester United earlier this summer and a recent interview in his homeland has reignited speculation over the switch.

"It is the league that I would like to play in and I hope that I manage to do so," he told TV channel TVP Info when asked about the English top-flight.

Dortmund have been unable to persuade Lewandowski to sign an extension to his current deal, which expires in 2014, but sports manager Michael Zorc says he is not concerned by the remark.

"The reality [for Lewandowski] is Borussia Dortmund - and it is also a dream," he said in Bild. "Basically, there's nothing wrong with someone dreaming of playing in the Premier League. We're handling it in a professional manner."

Zorc remains hopeful the player can be persuaded to sign an extension. "We are still in constructive talks," he said.
