Everton have agreed a £1 million fee with New York Red Bulls for Tim Cahill.

Cahill, 32, has built a reputation as a goalscoring midfielder - but he netted just two Premier League goals last season in 35 appearances, and manager David Moyes is apparently willing to let him move on.

Cahill's exit would free up funds for Everton to complete the signing of Steven Pienaar from Tottenham Hotspur, after his successful loan spell last season.

Cahill joined Everton for £1.5 million from Millwall in 2004 and has made 278 appearances for the club, scoring 68 goals.

The Australia international said in June that he was considering a move to the Middle East, but it seems America is his most likely destination.

Should he join Red Bulls, he would link up with former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry and ex-Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez.
