Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin is set to join a Premier League side on loan, according to reports.

Sahin, 23, made just two La Liga starts for Real Madrid last season, having joined the club from Borussia Dortmund in 2011.

The Turkey international recently expressed his willingness to remain at the Bernabeu, but Spanish newspaper AS reported on Friday an exit has been agreed.

AS claims a season-long loan agreement with an English side has been struck, with Arsenal and Tottenham - as part of a deal for Luka Modric - mooted as possible destinations.

Neither north London club have commented on the rumours, with clarity over Sahin's destination expected in the next 48 hours.

Marca, meanwhile, takes the stance that he is bound for the Gunners, after he was left out of Real's squad for their friendly against Benfica.

Neither North London club have commented on the rumours, with clarity over Sahin's destination expected in the next 48 hours, although Jose Mourinho signalled that he expects the player to move.

"If there is an interesting opportunity to play elsewhere, then he can leave," he said. "Because we saw last year that he did not have minutes here."
