Wenger hints at Arshavin stay
Arsene Wenger has not closed the door on Andrei Arshavin, suggesting the Russian forward could still have a future at Arsenal.
Arshavin has failed to live up to expectations since joining in 2009, with his high point in Gunners colours arguably being his four-goal blitz in a 4-4 draw with Liverpool in April of the same year.
He has so often flattered to deceive and it appeared his Arsenal career was over when he was farmed out on loan to former club Zenit St Petersburg. The Russian club have failed to secure him on a permanent deal and Wenger is planning talks with Arshavin to thrash out his future.
"With Arshavin, it depends," Wenger said. "We have to sit together and talk. He could still have a future at the club."
It would appear, though, Wenger has drawn a line under the Arsenal careers of Nicklas Bendtner, Sebastien Squillaci and Park Chu-Young. He said: "Bendtner, Squillaci and Park will be on their way to go somewhere."
