Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini does not believe he will ever be able to change Carlos Tevez's attitude.

Mancini infamously clashed with Tevez last season after the Argentine forward refused to warm up during City's Champions League game at Bayern Munich.

The Italian coach subsequently said the striker would not play for the club again - but, after six months away from the squad, he returned to play a part in their Premier League success.

Mancini appears to have buried the hatchet with Tevez, insisting he will be at the club for the 2012-13 season, and the City manager hopes the player has learnt from his actions.

"I don't think I can change Carlos. I just want respect, for me and for the club," Mancini told the Daily Mail while on a pre-season tour in Kuala Lumpur.

"We don't play and work because we earn some money - we start to play when we are young because we like football. I hope Carlos understands that maybe he made some mistakes."

City's squad is not short of potentially volatile characters, with Mario Balotelli also coming in for criticism last season after being sent off twice.

Asked how he will make sure there are no more behind the scenes issues or problems this season, Mancini said: "This is impossible. With Mario, it is impossible. But, Carlos, maybe."
