Newcastle United have made an improved offer for Lille full-back Mathieu Debuchy, according to reports.
Debuchy, 27, is a summer target for Newcastle, with the Premier League club having failed with a €5 million bid for the France international earlier this summer.
French newspaper L'Equipe has claimed on Thursday that the Magpies have increased their bid to €6 million, although it remains to be seen if that figure will be enough to prize the defender away from Lille.
Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye, who signed at St James' Park from Lille in 2011, recently expressed his belief that Debuchy is keen to make a move to Tyneside.
