Bellamy's Cardiff talks confirmed

Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy says he is taking things "day by day" as he moves closer to a return to Cardiff City.

Bellamy, who turned 33 last month, is expected to sign for his home-city club within the next few days.

QPR are also interested in the Welshman, but he is thought to be keen to re-join the Bluebirds, where he spent the 2010-11 season on loan, as his family home is just outside Cardiff.

Asked about the possibility of moving of returning to the club, Bellamy told the South Wales Echo: "Look, you know me better than to expect me to talk publicly about that. I've no immediate plans at the moment. What will be, will be.

"I don't think too far into the future. At this stage of my career I just have to take things day by day."

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is open minded as to whether Bellamy stays or goes but has confirmed talks have taken place with Cardiff..

"We have been in talks with him and Cardiff," said Rodgers.

Cardiff manager Malky Mackay is understood to have been busy trying to sort out a deal for Bellamy, who helped Team GB to the quarter-finals of the Olympic football tournament before they were beaten on penalties by South Korea.

Indeed, Mackay wants to complete Bellamy's signing before Cardiff begin their Championship season at home to Huddersfield a week on Friday.
