Brendan Rodgers has left the door ajar for Manchester City to make a move for Daniel Agger by admitting "every player has his price".

City have kept their powder dry in the summer transfer window, but there are suggestions that they could enter the market shortly and Agger has been strongly linked.

It has been suggested Liverpool could cash in if a bid in the region of £25m is made and although not mentioning figures, Rodgers has admitted they could deal.

"Daniel is a top player and you do not want to lose your best players," Rodgers said. "He has been here seven years. He loves the club and its supporters.

"But every player has his price and we will see where it goes.

"You're going to have your top players linked with other clubs. But I'm not forced to sell anyone, and Daniel is a very important player.

"We'll see what happens between now and the end of the month."

Agger has been on Liverpool's books since joining from Brondby in 2006 and is the Reds' first choice centre back alongside Martin Skrtel.
