Swansea have opened talks with German club Kaiserslautern over signing striker Itay Shechter on a season-long loan.

Shechter, 25, is an Israeli international who was in attendance for Swansea's recent 4-2 friendly victory over Blackpool. The forward is keen to join the Welsh club, but will need to obtain a work permit before the deal can go through.

The former Hapoel Tel Aviv man already has 13 caps under his belt, but struggled in the Bundesliga last summer following his move from Israel, scoring just three goals throughout the campaign.

If the striker does move to the Liberty Stadium, he will become Michael Laudrup's fourth signing after the arrivals of Michu, Jonathan de Guzman and Chico Flores.

New Swansea manager, Laudrup, has also been linked with a £5m move for Bolton midfielder Mark Davies, but the Championship side aren't keen to sell. The pursuit of Davies is being seen as a move to replace Liverpool target Joe Allen.

Allen is set to return to training on Wednesday, and will immediately hold talks with his new boss, before deciding on his future.

Scott Sinclair, who also returns to training on Wednesday after Olympic duty is also giving Laudrup a headache after being linked to Premier League champions Manchester City.
