Manchester United have missed out on Brazil international Lucas Moura as Paris Saint-Germain announced on Wednesday that they have agreed a deal with Sao Paulo to sign the youngster.

Moura will join up with the French club in January 2013.

Lucas, 19, had attracted attention from Manchester United and Inter Milan before PSG made their move, and a reported €45 million deal is now in place for January.

A statement on PSG's official website read: "Paris Saint-Germain and Sao Paulo FC have reached today an agreement for the definitive transfer of Lucas Rodriguez Moura Da Silva.

"The player and Paris Saint-Germain have also signed an agreement from January 2013 to July 2017. The player will join Paris Saint-Germain and his new teammates in January 2013 for the second half of the season.

"By signing a young talent of the quality of Lucas Rodriguez Moura Da Silva, Paris Saint-Germain are already preparing for the future."

PSG have invested heavily this summer, with the Lucas deal following the arrivals of stars including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Manchester United had been keen to land Moura this summer but have been disappointed in the pursuit of a major signing once again - after missing out on Eden Hazard at the start of the off-season. The Belgian chose to join Champions League winners Chelsea instead.
