Rangers will add more new faces to their squad before the transfer window closes, chief executive Charles Green has said.

The newco club began life in the Third Division with a 2-2 draw at Peterhead on Sunday, salvaging a point in the final moments.

After losing a string of players during a summer of turmoil, Rangers brought in Dean Shiels, Kevin Kyle, Fran Sandaza and Emilson Cribari - and Green says there are more arrivals in the pipeline.

"I will be further supporting Alistair [manager Ally McCoist] with more signings," he told the Daily Record. "We have other targets lined up.

"There will be more players coming into the club before deadline day, but I can't say who they are because I can't pronounce their names, and there will be more players leaving the club."

Green told the Ibrox club's players they needed to be ready for a "fight" this season as they attempt to take the first step towards an eventual return to Scotland's top flight.

He said: "This is just the start. But I'm used to it as, from the day I came in, I've been fighting. We have been fighting with the SFA [Scottish Football Association], the SPL [Scottish Premier League] and now with Third Division clubs to take points off them, so for us this is not strange."

And he denied claims that Rangers were planning to bring in new players but not paying off debts, adding: "This couldn't be further from the truth.

"They are not even my debts but I've paid them anyway, as we want to put this behind us and rise again. We handed £50,000 to the SFA last Thursday to clear up all the fines and to pay what we owed the clubs."
