Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer of €15 million for Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila, according to reports in France.

M'Vila, 22, has been the focus of intense speculation this summer, with Rennes hoping to receive €20 million for him.

Sports newspaper L'Equipe, though, believes the Ligue 1 club may be prepared to accept the current offer due to their current financial plight.

It had been thought that Tottenham's North London rivals Arsenal were leading the chase for the 22-cap M'Vila, but the Gunners' interest appears to have cooled in recent weeks.

Tottenham and new manager Andre Villas-Boas have confirmed their intention to strengthen ahead of the start of the Premier League season next weekend, with M'Vila top of the club's list.
