Gael Kakuta has made clear his intention to leave Chelsea and return to France, with the forward earmarking Marseille as his favoured destination.

The 21-year-old has struggled to hold down a place in the Blues' first XI, starting only one Premier League game since joining from Lens in 2007.

Kakuta, who was loaned to Dijon in January until the end of the 2011-12 season having already spent time at both Fulham and Bolton since moving to Chelsea, is desperate for first-team football and admits he now sees his future away from Stamford Bridge.

He told L'Equipe: "My decision is final. This is an important time in my career. It's better for me to leave the club and find one where I could play more matches. I need to play."

Marseille remain an attractive lure for Kakuta despite the French outfit finishing 10th in Ligue 1 last term.

"Marseille is a club that I like," he added. "In France, Marseille, Lyon and Lille are the three clubs I like the most. Nothing is certain yet. First Marseille must first sell and then negotiate a reasonable salary."
