Blackburn Rovers are interested in bringing Arsenal's out-of-favour forward Marouane Chamakh to Ewood Park on loan.

Manager Steve Kean saw his pre-season planning for the Rovers attack disrupted when big-money signing Leon Best suffered an injury that will keep him out of action for six months.

Blackburn have had two offers for Huddersfield's 40-goal striker Jordan Rhodes rejected and have also failed in an audacious bid to take John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City, with the Premier League champions instead seeking a permanent £6 million sale.

Rovers have now turned their attentions to Chamakh, although there is some doubt as to whether he would be prepared to drop into the Championship.

Chamakh, who has two years left on his Arsenal contract, has struggled for form despite beginning his career in north London by scoring ten goals in 21 games. He has scored only once in the last 20 months - a period in which he has mostly been used as a substitute.
