Tevez feeling reinvigorated at City

Carlos Tevez believes he can have a "great" season at Manchester City after declaring that he feels "valued" at the Etihad Stadium again.

Tevez, 28, scored a superb goal in Sunday's Community Shield victory over Chelsea and said he is playing with renewed confidence.

He was praised by Roberto Mancini after the game and the pair, who had a fractious relationship last season, have been reconciled.

Tevez did not appear for City for six months when, after his refusal to warm up in September's Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich, he returned to his native Argentina and was fined by the club.

Mancini had declared the former captain was "finished" but, after AC Milan did not match City's asking price in the January transfer window, Tevez remained in Manchester.

He eventually returned to appear in the final ten games of City's title-winning campaign but was still expected to be sold in the summer.

But a move never materialised and Tevez looked sharp in their pre-season fixture and said he is happy to remain at City.

"I'm returning feeling renewed. I'm really up for having a great season. I'm better now and only thinking about playing football," he said.

"I feel useful and valued and that is fundamental for me. It's been a long time since I've scored a goal like that (against Chelsea), like the ones I used to score when I was at Boca, and this speaks of the confidence I have."
