No Spurs bid for Chamakh

ESPN understands there is no truth in reports linking Tottenham with a move for Arsenal's Marouane Chamakh.

At present, Spurs have just one recognised senior striker, Jermain Defoe, with teenager Harry Kane the only other forward at Andre Villas-Boas' disposal.

The Tottenham manager last week expressed his desire to sign another striker before the transfer window closes, saying: "We have touched on different players in that position, but we have not been able to conclude a deal. Our focus and attention is towards that position, which we will try to sort out next week."

Spurs have been trying to conclude a deal for Emmanuel Adebayor, who scored 17 goals while on loan at White Hart Lane last season, but Arsenal frontman Chamakh has also been linked with a move across North London in recent days.

However, ESPN understands that such reports are wide of the mark, with a swoop for the Morocco international not on the cards.

Chamakh has struggled to make an impact since arriving at Emirates Stadium from Bordeaux in 2010 and started just one Premier League game last season.
