De Rossi confirms he will not leave Roma

Manchester City target Daniele De Rossi has announced he will not be leaving boyhood club AS Roma.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, the Italy international defensive midfielder made it clear that he never asked to leave the Stadio Olimpico for the Premier League.
"I'm staying," De Rossi said. "I never asked to leave.
"One club, the one you all know [Manchester City], made an enquiry. One or two others, but that was just talk."
He added: "What I can promise everyone is that the day I want to leave Roma - whether it is to win the Champions League or make more money - I will say so in public."
De Rossi has long been linked with the Premier League champions City, with manager Roberto Mancini known to be an ardent admirer of the combative midfielder.
Transfer talk surrounding De Rossi died down after the 29-year-old signed a new long-term contract with the Giallorossi in February, but picked up steam once again last week after City apparently returned with a sizeable offer.
The announcement that De Rossi would hold a press conference on Thursday led some to speculate he would announce his departure, but it seems the 29-year-old will not be leaving for the foreseeable future.
"People have written all sorts of things, about me, about [City manager Roberto] Mancini. Some of it makes me laugh. Some of it makes me angry," he added. "I can tell you the truth. I came to do a classic press conference before the season. I wanted to make a clarification.
"This is a normal press conference for me, not the announcement of the Third World War. For me it's important to say my piece. I am here at Roma, I'm happy and never asked to leave.
"I don't know if club still want to sell me. Guessing they count on me since they gave me huge contract in February. Ask them."
