Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson is reportedly close to securing a move to Queens Park Rangers, with quoted fees ranging from £5.5 million and £10 million.

Dawson, 28, was left out of the Spurs squad for their Premier League opener with Newcastle on Saturday and the club are thought to be ready to let him leave White Hart Lane, should a suitable bid arrive.

A move to QPR now appears to be nearing completion and Dawson will undergo a medical examination at Loftus Road, with the centre-back having missed the second-half of the 2011-12 season through injury.

The former Nottingham Forest defender has found himself outside of new Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas' plans, with Jan Vertonghen and the returning Steven Caulker strengthening the club's defensive options.

Dawson now looks set to form one half of a potential duo of central-defensive signings, with Marseille's versatile Cameroonian Stephane Mbia also reportedly close to completing a loan move to the club. That deal would see suspended central midfielder Joey Barton move the other way to the south of France.
