Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone is on the verge of completing a season-long loan move to Stoke City.

Huddlestone, 25, will undergo a medical at the Britannia Stadium on Wednesday and the deal could be completed by the end of the day.

Earlier on Wednesday, Stoke winger Jermaine Pennant used Twitter to reveal that Huddlestone was set to move to the Potteries from North London, writing that he had seen him when he arrived for training at City's Clayton Wood complex.

"He's going to have a medical later - if it's all good we have got him till the end of the season," he tweeted.

Huddlestone, who has struggled to establish himself in the first-team frame at White Hart Lane recently, had been linked with a loan switch to Aston Villa after Andre Villas-Boas told him he could go elsewhere to find playing time.

But Villa manager Paul Lambert decided against a move for the player, who began his career in the Midlands as a teenager at Derby County.
