Norwich have signed Norway international midfielder Alexander Tettey from French club Rennes on a two-year deal.

Tettey, 26, spent three seasons in France with the Ligue 1 side, but has now chosen to join Norwich for an undisclosed fee.

Ghana-born, Tettey is a naturalised Norwegian and has gone on to make 14 international appearances for his adopted country, including impressing against England in June.

Norwich manager Chris Hughton believes that the combative midfielder can play an important role for the Canaries this campaign.

Hughton said: "I'm delighted to have Alexander on board and I firmly believe he will be a valuable asset for us. He's a very good player with international experience, and he's at a good age for us."

Tettey has not been registered in time to face Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, but will attend the match before joining his new side for training next week.
