Tottenham's Younes Kaboul will be out for up to four months after undergoing surgery on his injured knee.

Kaboul, 26, was absent for Spurs' 1-1 home draw with West Brom on Saturday due to his injury, which has now forced him to go under the knife.

"Morning all, surgery done with success..Now looking forward for my rehab.I thank you all for your great support as usual! #comingbackstronger,'' Kaboul wrote on his Twitter account.

He followed this up with: ``Sorry I forgot to mention how long (I will be out for)...(It) Should be 4 months.''

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas was set to make him a key part of his new-look side, with Michael Dawson made available for transfer, but he may now have to bring the English centre-half back into the squad.

Club captain Dawson is yet to feature under Villas-Boas and was recently linked to a £9 million move across London to Queens Park Rangers.

Without Kaboul, Spurs are down to just three centre-backs available in the form of Jan Vertonghen, William Gallas and Steven Caulker.
