Darren Fletcher's return from a career-threatening illness took another step forward after he was named in Manchester United's Champions League squad.

Fletcher returned to action for United's reserves last month following a lengthy lay-off after he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis last year.

The 28-year-old has completed two full 90-minute matches for the Under-21s and has also been training with the Scotland squad as his comeback gathers pace.

"He's back to his normal weight from two or three years ago," United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said recently. "He's training well, every day."

Manchester United have been drawn to play Braga, Galatasaray and CFR Cluj in Group H.
