Vidic plays down chant fears

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic says there is no reason to worry about the club's fans letting them down when they take on Liverpool at an emotional Anfield on Sunday.

It will be the first match to take place at Anfield since Liverpool fans were completely exonerated from any blame after the Hillsborough disaster, and a police cover-up was exposed.

And, in a match where 96 red ballons are set to be released before kick-off, there are fears that there may be problems between the rival supporters.

A small minority of United fans were heard to be chanting "always the victims, never your fault", in reference to Liverpool fans, during last weekend's 4-0 win over Wigan.

However, there was no trouble at Old Trafford in their 1-0 win over Galatasaray on Wednesday and Vidic is sure that will be the case on Sunday.

"I don't think we should put so much pressure on our fans,'' he said. "People always try to make a big thing out of a small one but I don't have any worries.

"We have shown many times in the past and I think we will be proud of them. The big teams respect each other and we are going to play football.''
