Wenger expects Giroud progress

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger expects striker Olivier Giroud to start firing in the Premier League after the player finally opened his goalscoring account in Wednesday's Capital One Cup demolition of Coventry.
The Frenchman had failed to find the back of the net for the Gunners in six appearances - five of those in the league - since he made a £13million move from Montpellier in the summer, and the pressure was starting to build on the Frenchman.
At Emirates Stadium on Wednesday however he broke his duck and opened the scoring in Arsenal's 6-1 rout of Coventry, and Wenger fully expects the 25-year-old to carry that into the league.
"It was in everyone's mind that the sooner he gets it the better, it was certainly more in his mind even more than in our minds. That is positive of course," said Wenger in the wake of the convincing win.
"It was a good finish, he is a good finisher Olivier, but at the moment I believe he is looking for confidence and that goal will help him. I expect him to take that into the Premier League."
Arsenal face Chelsea at Emirates Stadium on Saturday as they attempt to inflict the European champions' first league defeat of the season.
