Cole linked with move to PSG
Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti is plotting a move for Chelsea full-back Ashley Cole, according to reports in France.
Cole does not look set to be offered the extended new contract he wants at Chelsea, amid rumours that Blues owner Roman Abramovich is reluctant to hand extended contracts to his senior players. That news has reportedly alerted big-spending PSG to the possible availability of the 2012 Champions League winner.
Ancelotti enjoyed a good relationship with Cole during his reign as Stamford Bridge coach and PSG may be one of the few clubs in European football who could fund what would be a huge investment in a 31-year-old defender.
With less than a year left to run on what looks set to be his final Stamford Bridge deal, Cole would be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with potential suitors as early as January, with a move next summer now seeming inevitable.
Suggestions that Chelsea's veteran stars will only be offered one-year contracts by Abramovich may also affect Frank Lampard's future at Stamford Bridge, with LA Galaxy chiefs hinting they would be interested in signing the England midfielder when he becomes a free agent next summer.
Lampard's time as Chelsea regular appears to be edging rapidly towards an end after he was again left out of the starting line-up by boss Roberto Di Matteo for Saturday's win against Arsenal, with the new-look Blues midfield impressing in his absence at the Emirates Stadium.
