Brendan Rodgers is planning on introducing an influx of academy talent into the Liverpool first-team this season.

Youngsters Raheem Sterling, Jonjo Shelvey, Andre Wisdom and Suso have all been given chances for the Reds already this campaign as Rodgers looks to revolutionise his squad.

And the former Swansea boss doesn't intend to stop there, claiming it is his intention to blood some more of the club's young talent before he assesses his plans for the January transfer window.

Rodgers said: "The plan between now and January is to see how many of the young players are going to be able to come into our squad - and I have been very, very pleased by the impact they've made."

He also singled out 19-year-old defender Wisdom for special praise, admitting that he has high hopes for the England Under-21 international's progress.

Wisdom has appeared in Premier League, Europa League and Capital One Cup victories this season, and has made a big impression on Rodgers.

"When I came Andre had been at centre-half but he has the physical and technical capacity to play full-back," he added. "The modern day full-back has a lot of the ball and has to have strength, pace and power - well Andre has that."
