Belgium coach Marc Wilmots has assured Manchester City that Vincent Kompany is fully fit to face Scotland on Tuesday.

City boss Roberto Mancini is reported to be concerned that Kompany, who missed his club's 3-0 victory over Sunderland with a calf injury, was selected for international duty.

Wilmots says he was happy to leave Kompany out of the side that beat Netherlands in a friendly in August but World Cup qualification matches are another matter.

"Before the friendly game against Netherlands, Mancini called me," he said. "I rested Kompany then. Now, it's a qualifier - that's something else."

In any case, Wilmots says the defender, who played in Belgium's 3-0 victory over Serbia on Friday night, is no longer carrying the injury.

"He can call me, but Vincent is fit to play," he said. "Mancini really need not worry. We would not take a risk with a player."
