Arsenal are facing a potential keeper crisis with the news Lukasz Fabianski is expected to be sidelined for three months with an ankle injury.

The keeper has not played this season on account of a shoulder problem, but he was closing in on a return when damaging his ankle in training this week.

Ruptured ligaments have been diagnosed and it is likely to be 2013 before the keeper sees any competitive action, as he will undergo corrective surgery.

"We have a problem because Fabianski got injured and will have surgery - he will be out for three months," Wenger said. "It's an ankle ligament problem - a new problem. He was back in training before that."

Gunners' No. 1 Wojciech Szczesny is nursing an ankle injury of his own and, according to Wenger is "two weeks away", which leaves Vito Mannone as Arsenal's only experienced option.

Damian Martinez, 20, and James Shea, 21, will be in contention for a spot on the bench when Arsenal travel to Norwich on Saturday, a game which is live on ESPN.
