Hughes: Racism will never be KOd

QPR boss Mark Hughes has claimed that racism will never be fully eradicated from football.

Hoops defender Anton Ferdinand was racially insulted by Chelsea captain John Terry last year, and Hughes saw several of his players refuse to wear Kick It Out T-shirts prior to Sunday's 1-1 draw with Everton.

Hughes said: "You'll never totally get rid of racism in football. There'll always be some idiot who feels it is something he wants to do. And when you have that it's very, very difficult to stamp out."

QPR's inability to see off ten-man Everton left them winless in the Premier League this season, and cranked up the heat on Hughes, whose side spent heavily over the summer.

But despite his team being rooted to the foot of the table, Hughes insists he is not feeling the pressure. "We have got enough quality to win games," he said.

"Things are conspiring against us but it will turn around soon. It's the longest run without a win I've been on at the start of a season, I would say.

"We're having a frustrating period at the moment but every club goes through it."
