Moyes defends Everton's style from rival attacks
David Moyes has defended Everton's style of play - and insists he does not care what anyone at Liverpool thinks about it.
Moyes has no doubts that his team play an attractive style of football, despite criticisms from Steven Gerrard in the wake of last Sunday's Merseyside derby.
Liverpool captain Gerrard has apologised for labelling Everton as a "very direct" team who are "similar to Stoke" after the 2-2 draw at Goodison Park.
And Moyes has dismissed any criticisms from Anfield as irrelevant, making clear his view that Everton are playing in an attractive style.
The Everton manager is happy with the way his team have performed this season as he prepares to take them to face Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.
He said: "All we can do is do what we do. I think any neutral who watches Everton will say they've been impressed.
"More importantly, if you ask any Evertonians how they think Everton have done, I think they would all say Everton have played very well. And more importantly, ask the manager how he thinks it's gone, and I'd tell you Everton have played really, really well and passed it well.
"I think we're among the top teams in the Premier League for creating chances. We've scored a lot of goals. I think we've been good value and we're actually very good to watch.
"I don't really bother about what Liverpool think, to tell you the truth. I only bother about what I think."
Everton are fifth in the Premier League after nine matches, and Moyes is happy with the progress they have made so far this season, although he is wary of getting carried away.
"I think if you asked me after Saturday, we'll have played 10 games and we'll be able to consider that a start," he said.
"That's a proper period to consider a start, so we'll consider it after that. Up to now, we're happy. We've played well, we've performed well and we're in a pretty good league position.
"I think we've performed well. I'm pleased with the way the players are playing. I'm pleased with the points. But I think there are a few we could have picked up one or two more.
"But we've got a tough game at Fulham and we know we're going to have to play very well there. They're doing well and their ambitions, I'm sure, are to finish around the European spots if they can as well."
Midfielder Marouane Fellaini played in last Sunday's Merseyside derby despite not being 100% fit after suffering a knee injury at QPR seven days earlier, but should be fine to face Fulham.
Striker Kevin Mirallas is also likely to be involved despite suffering an ankle injury against Liverpool, but midfielder Darron Gibson is still unavailable due to the thigh injury suffered in the 2-0 defeat at West Brom on September 1.
Moyes said: "We hope Kevin's got a chance. His ankle's still sore, but not quite as bad as we thought. He's not quite there yet but we hope he'll have a chance for the game.
"Darron Gibson's coming on. He's got a tendon problem at the top of his thigh which has been worse than we thought, which has kept him out for longer than we hoped for. He's getting better, but he's got no chance for this weekend."
