Krul: Anfield fear factor has gone

Tim Krul believes the pressure is on Liverpool ahead of Newcastle's trip to Anfield this Sunday.

Although there is only three points between the sides in the Premier League table goalkeeper Krul, 24, believes an away game at Anfield doesn't hold the fear factor that it once did, claiming that Newcastle can take advantage of Liverpool's frailties.

"We can go there with no pressure on us. We definitely feel we can get something from the game. You only have to look at other teams that have gone there," he told the Chronicle.

"Liverpool haven't been on top of their game, so we need to make sure we expose those cracks. We have a great team. We're the same as last season  we don't fear going to Liverpool these days, definitely not.

"The next four or five fixtures are coming up and we definitely fancy our chances of getting a few points from them. The lads put in a proper shift against West Brom. We had spoken about out-working teams in the build-up and we need to do that again at Liverpool."

Meanwhile defender James Perch has revealed he is eager to end a dismal run of results for Newcastle at Anfield - in which the club have only won twice in twenty attempts - their last victory coming in November 1995, via a 1-0 win in the League Cup.

"The last few times we've been there we haven't done too well," he told the club's official website. "But Liverpool have had a couple of disappointing results in the last week, and we will go there and try to win. Hopefully we do.

"They are a great team and a great club with great tradition, but things will take time there. The manager is trying to make his mark on the team, like he did at Swansea.

"I think he's trying to get them to play like that, which won't happen overnight. Hopefully we can go there and upset them.

"If you look at the Liverpool sides of the past five or ten years, if you were to ask which one would you rather play against I think you would say this one now - the current squad.

"They have still got some great players in guys like Gerrard and Suarez, don't get me wrong, but we look at it as a game we can win."
