Rodgers: I'll find strike partner for Suarez

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has pledged to provide Luis Suarez with a strike partner in the January transfer window.

The Uruguayan was described as unplayable by his boss after scoring a stunning equaliser against Newcastle on Sunday, taking down Jose Enrique's 70-yard pass before rounding Tim Krul to cancel out Yohan Cabaye's first-half opener.

And the Liverpool No. 7 gave Fabricio Coloccini a torrid time in defence, with the Argentine's frustration getting the better of him in a late challenge that saw the Newcastle skipper shown the red card.

"I thought Luis was unplayable. It was a brilliant goal. He has been fantastic," Rodgers said. "His first touch coming from that height was an incredible piece of skill.

"That is what he is, a world-class striker. Most people in football know he is a real threat for us in and around the area.

Sunday's draw was Liverpool's fifth in 10 Premier League games, and Rodgers admits that the club are in need of another striker, with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar being touted as a potential target.

"We know he needs support going forward. If we can add the types of players we want to finish off the type of play we are producing it is going to be a really exciting team. For now we'll just keep plugging away, keep our heads down.

"He is an absolute joy to work with. He's aiming to get better every day he trains. And he is still a young player.

"He's committed his best years to us here, which is brilliant. He just has a real hunger for the game. He has a hunger to score goals."
