Celtic hero Watt shocked after 'best moment of my life'

Celtic players were in wonderland after holding on to defeat Barcelona 2-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

In front of the Parkhead faithful, 18-year-old substitute Tony Watt scored what would prove to be the decisive goal - following up Victor Wanyama's uncompromising opener to render Lionel Messi's late strike meaningless and leave Neil Lennon's side close to qualification for the knockout stages - an eventuality few predicted at the start of the group.

"Not yet, it will take a couple of hours," Watt told Sky Sports, when asked if the win had sunk in yet. "I just saw [Victor] Valdes and tried to put it in the corner and I just put it to the side of him and I couldn't believe it when it went it.

"It is probably the best moment of my life and when I look back at it when I am older and just think I have just beaten Barcelona in the Champions League - there is nothing better is there."

Goalkeeper Forster believes the result should not come as that much of a surprise, considering the quality of the squad and the attitude they show.

"We have got a fantastic squad of players and whoever comes in will do tremendous for us and we really showed in the Nou Camp what we could do and we just couldn't see it through and even with injuries we have got a fantastic squad," said Forster.

"Everyone was tremendous and everyone played their part tonight and I think we deserved it in the end."

Manager Lennon paid tribute to his players, reiterating his comments prior to the contest that Barcelona were the best side in the world.

"We thought we could affect them at corners, at the back post against Jordi Alba," said Lennon. "Charlie Mulgrew is one of best dead ball experts around, and Victor Wanyama gets better and better.

"We had to weather a storm, you know it's coming and there's not much you can do. Tony Watt gave us a new lease of life and scored a great goal. He'll go down in the history books of the club.

He added: "We have just beaten the best side in the world. They are the best side in the world.

"The club has been the in doldrums. This is not the pinnacle, there is more to come from this team, but the progression is great. It gives us a great chance [of qualifying].

"We go to Benfica next and will have to raise ourselves again, but we'll cross that bridge when it comes to it.

"I want them to enjoy the moment and then get back to domestic action.

"When I came in I said I wanted to bring the thunder back and I've never heard anything like that."
