Olivier Giroud has vowed to repay his £12 million transfer fee by scoring 15 Premier League goals for Arsenal this season.

Brought in from Montpellier as a replacement for Robin van Persie, Giroud made a slow start to life at Emirates Stadium as he failed to score in his opening seven matches.

However, after netting twice in the Gunners' 3-3 draw with Fulham on Saturday to take his tally to six in all competitions, Giroud, who has now scored four goals in his last four matches, has set himself a target of scoring at least 12 league goals for Arsenal this season.

"I'm starting to quieten the doubters and feeling better," Giroud said in the Sun. "I'd be happy to get between 12 and 15 goals in the league this season."

Giroud, who says he is "finding his place in the team", has urged Arsenal's defence to tighten up as he fears their defensive frailties my harm their hopes of silverware this season.
