Pavel Pogrebnyak has urged Russia team-mate Andrey Arshavin to join him at Reading.

Pogrebnyak, who also knows Arshavin from his time at Zenit St Petersburg, is keen to renew his partnership with the unsettled Arsenal forward at the Madejski Stadium.

Arshavin has been restricted to just five substitute appearances in the Premier League this season and spent the second half of last term on loan at Zenit.

Reading owner Anton Zingarevich has already expressed interest in signing the forward and Pogrebnyak would love to play alongside Arshavin with the Royals.

"It's Arshavin who has to make the decision," Pogrebnyak told rg.ru. "Anton Zingarevich knows him well enough without listening to my opinion, as he is from St Petersburg.

"Andrey is a master and there is no doubt that it would be great to see him at Reading."
