Mancini keen to win Europa League
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini feels the club have no chance of progressing in the Champions League but said the Europa League is a trophy he would like to target.
For the second consecutive year City have got off to a nightmare start in Europe's elite competition, this time picking up just two points from their opening four games.
To have any hope of reaching the knockout stages the Manchester club must beat both Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, while still relying on other results to go their way.
Mancini is realistic about his side's chances but believes playing in the much-derided Europa League could offer some consolation, should they manage qualify for the competition by finishing third in their group and then progress to the Amsterdam final in May.
"We don't have any chance to go through to the next stage but, like goalkeepers, football is strange," he said in The Sun. "We have two games and we want to be in the Europa League.
"Maybe when you play in February, March, April it can be a problem but if you can reach the final, the Europa League is an important trophy."
