Tim Cahill is targeting a return to the Premier League on loan and hopes it will be with former club Everton.

After an eight-year spell at Goodison Park, Cahill joined MLS side New York Red Bulls in the summer. The MLS season is in its closing stages, with Cahill's side out of the running for the title, and he is keen to keep playing.

He is fully committed to at least another season with the Red Bulls, but feels he can still cut it in the Premier League and is open to a loan move in January.

"I have been watching a lot of the games and I believe I have got a lot more to offer," Cahill told Sky Sports News. "There is no shadow of a doubt that I am definitely eager to come back on loan.

"If Everton is an option then hopefully something can be done. If not, then I am definitely eager to play football anyway.

"It would be nice, but it is not down to me. I have to respect the fact that sometimes the ship has sailed.

"It is not in my hands. It would be great. If it is, it is. If it isn't, I just want to play football."
