Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has insisted that Manchester City and Chelsea target Radamel Falcao will honour his contract at the Spanish club.

Falcao, 26, has emerged as perhaps the most sought-after striker in world football over the last 18 months, with his goals propelling Atletico to Europa League and Super Cup success last season - and vaulting the club above arch-rivals Real Madrid in La Liga so far in this campaign.

That form has reportedly attracted the interest of Premier League powerhouses Manchester City and Chelsea, who would not necessarily be put off by the £48 million release clause in the Colombian's contract.

But Cerezo insists he is not worried about losing his star forward, expressing his confidence that Falcao will see out his existing deal with the club - which runs until the summer of 2016.

"He says he is content and happy here and we are pleased and happy with him," Cerezo told reporters. "There are so many rumours about Falcao but that does not bother me because he has a contract and is happy.

"It is all the same to us and he will fulfil his contract."
