Fury camp confirm Klitschko talks

Tyson Fury's camp claim they are in pole position to strike a deal to fight Wladimir Klitschko next summer.

Klitschko and his brother Vitali have had a stranglehold on the heavyweight scene for some time, but there are a number of up-and-coming fighters on the horizon. Fury is one of them and his manager claims talks are underway with regard to a massive stadium fight next summer.

Fury faces a tough test against Kevin Johnson this weekend, but his people are already looking at taking the next step and a shot at Klitschko.

"I've spoken to Bernd Boente (the Klitschkos' manager) a few times now about fighting Wladimir," Fury's promoter Mick Hennessy told the Daily Mirror. "We were waiting for the Vitali situation to be resolved, with the elections, and he's going to make a decision about carrying on in December.

"There's also the option to do a fight with Wladimir and it depends on what Vitali is going to do."

Hennessy is aware of the Klitschkos' preference to fight in Germany, but he has put the option of Old Trafford and Croke Park on the table.

He said: "The fight with Wladimir will be a stadium fight and we would be looking to do it in May, June or July. Germany would be the favourite place for it to happen, but I've spoken to them about Old Trafford or Croke Park.

"They are ­businessmen and we know that it would sell out. They would prefer to work with us rather than any other candidates."
