Moyes undecided on Everton future

Everton boss David Moyes is no certainty of remaining at Goodison Park when his contract expires in the summer, admitting he will wait until next year to consider signing a new deal with the club.

Moyes, who has spent ten years at Everton, comes off contract at the end of the season and is likely to be offered an extension.

But the Toffees manager is not prepared to begin negotiations until after the January transfer window.

"I would probably wait until we have got over January and see how things go," he said. "I want to see what we're going to do, where the club are looking to move to in the future.

"And that's what I'm really looking for as well. It's probably going to be after the New Year before we speak."

While a win in the Premier League against Arsenal on Wednesday night could not move Everton any higher than their current position in fifth, a loss could see them slip as low as eighth depending on other results.

When asked if he would go to veteran manager Arsene Wenger or any other Premier League colleagues for advice on his future, Moyes admitted it is a decision only he can make.

He also suggested that the criticism Wenger has faced recently after going relatively unscathed during his 16-year tenure has created concerns over his own role at Everton.

"It's very hard to go to people to talk about the job here," Moyes said. "I think most people would look and say the Everton job looks as though it is a good job.

"We've got a good team, but what we're looking to do at Everton is see if we can get to the point where it's easy to keep all your good players. That obviously means getting to the summit or getting around the summit.

"I think supporters do get bored when a manager has been in a job a long time. Supporters might decide they are getting bored and they want a change.

"But I think that's wrong, because you are not gonig to get any stability at the club and will probably waste a lot of money chopping and changing all the time.

"Look at what Arsene has done, it's a remarkable job. Of course their supporters want trophies, but look at the money he has raised by being so consistently in the Champions League.

"He has probably financed their stadium and it is unbelievable. Only one or two clubs in the country would not be envious of that stadium, so he has put down something that is going to be there for a long, long time."
