Luiz Felipe Scolari is set to become the new Brazil manager, according to widespread reports.

Brazil have been seeking a new boss after they parted company with Mano Menezes last Friday following a disappointing showing at the London 2012 Olympics.

Scolari, who led Brazil to their last World Cup crown in 2002, has been without a job since he left Palmeiras in September.

It is reported that the former Chelsea manager held talks with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) on Wednesday and his appointment will be confirmed on Thursday.

CBF president Jose Maria Marin confirmed an announcement is imminent, but did not reveal the name of Menezes' successor.

He said: "We did a thorough evaluation and what we need is someone with the right skills, dedication and experience. I am absolutely certain that the fans will be happy with our choice.

"Pressure will be great at the World Cup, and that's understandable, and we need someone who can cope with that. We need everyone to get behind the new coach."
