Wenger told to give up on getting Zaha in January

Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway says Arsene Wenger and other managers can "go and whistle" if they think they are signing Wilfried Zaha in January.

Zaha, 20, has been hotly tipped to move to the Premier League when the transfer window re-opens - with Arsenal having sent their scouts to watch the winger on a number of occasions in recent weeks and Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool also all credited with an interest.

Gunners boss Wenger acknowledged last week that Zaha was on his radar when quizzed about the England international, comments Holloway took exception to.

The former Blackpool boss claimed he would phone Wenger to tell the Frenchman to stop speaking about his players to the media.

"Why is he talking about my players? It's not the game," said Holloway, according to The Sun. "I will be picking up the phone to talk to him as I don't think it is right and proper with the greatest respect.

"That is totally bad etiquette."

The Eagles manager insisted Zaha will not be available in the New Year, regardless of the sums offered.

"Wilf is a big part of our season and we have such a strong contract others can go and whistle," Holloway added.

"He won't be available, no matter what the price is in January."
